Aren't Health Insurance Companies Allowed To Sell Across State Lines?
Question by Maltese Mom | Posted in Insurance
I had health insurance in Texas from a followers in Oklahoma. United Healthcare sells insurance in all 50 states, I believe. Why are people that are against health responsibility reform claiming that health insurance would be cheaper if companies were allowed to sell across state lines? Also, if their claims is be realized, who would regulate it, the states through their insurance commissioners or the feds through a national insurance commissioner?
I'm not interested in the politics
Answer: Insurance companies have to make and get their products registered in every state they sell in.
United Health care sells in many states, but not all by any means. The theory comes from the concept that there would be more competition. There is a BlueCross in every state, but what if you lived in Texas and wanted to buy the California BlueCross (which is a exactly different carrier).
The theory is that you'd have more companies available to you. The theory doesn't

There should be a specific period of time in which they have to notify of an literal and then receive recompense. For example, when I handled our insurance premium payments if I discovered an offence in billing on the part of the health insurance company then I we could generally expect the error to be back
A benefactor of mine has Blue Cross Blue Shield through his employer in Florida. His premium is a huge $600.00 a month. He wanted to lower his premium and his employer says he can't revolution his insurance plan. He wanted to cancel his insurance and his boss says he can't, unless he fires him.
I told him it sounded as though his boss is exciting him off. He contacted Blue Cross Blue Shield and they told him his boss has the unhesitatingly to charge ANY amount he wishes. They
Answer: If he has insurance through his boss, it's not HIS programme, it's his BOSSES policy, and he doesn't GET a paper policy.
The IRS says, that employees can ONLY delete their participation in group health insurance plans, during open enrollment. So, if he doesn't die, or quit his job, his boss is beneficial - he CANNOT drop out of the plan.
And it's not his boss ripping him off - it's the IRS ripping him off. These are TAX laws, that keep him from quitting his arrangement.
