Is It Legal To Apply For Unemployment Insurance From A State I Did Not Work In?

I'm asking only because my friends are contractors who breathe in illinois, were sent out to work in Texas, got laid off and drove to Massachusetts to pile up unemployment (only becas Mass. has the highest insurance rate). I'm only asking because it doesnt seem put to me.

Answer: Unfortunate to popular belief unemployment is paid into by the employer not the employee, therefore the unemployment office has the employees entire work history. You can draw unemployment from one state and live in another but the unemployment is coming from the state worked in. Sounds like your friends are tiresome to slip through cracks in the system that don't exist.

If I Apply For Unemployment Insurance Benefits From My Employer,Am I Actually Suing Them?

I've had to put up for benefits in the past, but a small business owner I know used the provisos "one of my employees has sued me for unemployment benefits".

Answer: No you are not, it is congenial of like an insurance policy an employer has. If you are in a car accident, you aren't suing your insurance company, you are filing a allege. You are just filing for a benefit. Some employers get all freaked out when an employee files for unemployment and take it all the villainous way. Maybe your employer did, but I would not worry about it

Can You Still Apply For Unemployment Insurance With An Expired Green Card?

A few months expired?

Answer: Making allowance for you are technically not an illegal. Yes. An expired green card is an administrative violation, not a misdeed.
Unemployment was paid into the system by you and your employer, so you are eligible to collect. It is NOT a means tested benefit like advantage.

Accountant advice on tax refund question - Unemployment insurance ...

Unemployment comp is taxed as habitu receipts at the federal equivalent - most states don’t tax it. On a reckon takings of 18,500 you’ll owe a amount to of a dab over $300 if my assumptions are unventilated on your itemized deductions. You don’t say how much was withheld for federal gains taxes on your OK job, so I’ll think for the figure it was around $500. The most you’d get back, if your itemized deductions are a lot higher than my consider, is whatever you had withheld for federal takings tax. Something is a trivial curious though - unemployment comp normally only goes for 6 months, so I’m not steadfast how you got it for 8.
