How Does Life Insurance Commission Work? |
Question by LoneWriter | Posted in Insurance
let's say an agency sold a 300,000.00 policy and the premium is 100.00/month. let's say the agent is getting 80% commission. is the emissary getting 80% of the 300,000.00 or is the agent getting 80% of 100.00/month?
Answer: That depends. Assuming your concern annualizes your commissions, meaning they pay your entire first-year commission upfront, here's how you figure it. Multiply the monthly freebie by 12, ($100 x 12 = $1200) then multiply that subtotal by 80%, or .8, for a total first-year commission (FYC) of $960.
If they don't annualize your commissions, then you'll perhaps get 80% of the monthly premium each month for the first 12 months. I say probably because if you dealer out the policy, some |

I don’t upon myself a life insurance factor, but I am licensed to promote it. My receipts fluctuates because some months I don’t drudgery and others I do. On average, I produce about $500 from selling name insurance. I also have licensed sales people under me and if they grass on life insurance, they get paid full commissions and I realize an override (which is the peculiarity my sales true and their sales plane). The trouble for insurance doesn’t dam or snail-like down when the briefness is down. They too get bonuses and I warrant overrides on those bonuses. Bonus I take home bonuses, which I’m not stable how they ascertain it, but its well over $100 in bonuses....
